At Wallnut, sustainability is not a green-materials narrative: it is digital efficiency, transparency and traceability. Architecture, engineering and construction under one roof, on an in-house BIM platform that cuts rework, waste and opacity. We prefer small true numbers to big empty claims.

A 100% electric fleet

We are replacing our entire diesel passenger fleet with electric vehicles: 3 Kia e-Niro, 1 Tesla Model 3 and one more e-Niro this month. Only cargo vehicles remain, for specific needs. Charging happens at our HQ, on a 100% green tariff with Guarantees of Origin, or on the client site.

Our certified FY2025 fuel spend (€41,500/year) equals ≈ 55–60 t CO₂e/year (FY2025, certified), the whole fleet (Scope 1; now confirmed by measured fuel litres of ~23,200 L/yr in H1 2026, matching the certified 2025 accounts). The electric cars were only just acquired, so the diesel burn has not fallen in the data yet, and we claim no reduction until the litres drop. The Barreiro warehouse, where the fleet mainly charges, is on a 100% green tariff (0 kg CO₂ per invoice); the Lisbon office is on a standard tariff. On client sites, charging uses the client’s electricity. We publish the baseline and the action, not an invented reduction figure.

Commuting: Scope 3 (avoided, not a reduction)

Our team works in a hybrid model: most commute by public transport, electric car or on foot; two team members live within walking distance of the office and one works fully remote. If the metro-area team drove to the office instead, it would emit roughly 17 t CO₂e/year (about 28 t at five days a week), emissions our policy avoids. We do not book this as a reduction: it was never emitted, and “zero combustion” is not “zero carbon”.

How we measure, and what we don’t yet

We follow the voluntary EU Level(s) and VSME frameworks, right-sized for us, not CSRD, which does not apply to us (claiming it would be greenwashing).

Every number we publish carries a date and a source. Where we don’t yet have data (office electricity, embodied carbon per project), we say “we will measure”, never a figure that isn’t real. We don’t use “net zero”.

Digital, open, paperless

100% of projects in an common data environment aligned with ISO 19650; IFC and openBIM models; automatic quantity take-off from the model; and an engine that checks 7,122 regulatory rules against the design.

The result: less paper, fewer site trips (3D reality capture instead of physical revisits) and less rework: efficiency that is itself a sustainability decision.

People and governance

Fair, transparent labour costing (wage + charges, no inflated bands), fiscal compliance (SAF-T) and an auditable platform where every decision has a dated origin. Information integrity is the foundation of our social and governance sustainability.
